Super C Bicentennial rounds curve

Sending lots of holiday wishes your way. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

Additional Verse:

Super C On the next day after leaving Los Angeles, Santa Fe’s eastbound Super C rounds the curve at Augusta, Kansas on its 40-hour race to Chicago, frequently passing other trains and running at a maximum speed of 79 mph. Inaugurated in January 1968, the “world’s fastest long-distance freight train” operated for eight years, sometimes expedited by as many as four locomotives. During the train's final two years of service, a specially-painted Bicentennial SD45-2 was often in the lead. The 3,600-hp SD45-2’s with higher gear ratios were built in 1973; up until the demise of the Super C, they hustled parcel post mail on its 2,238-mile dash, becoming especially busy during the weeks leading up to Christmas.
