As we celebrate the arrival of this festive time of year, sending wishes for a season filled with good, old-fashioned cheer!
No.1046 at Hyndman Christmas Pennsylvania Railroad engine number 1046, an American Type (4-4-0) Class D-16, pauses with a southbound local at Hyndman, Pennsylvania during a Christmas season in the early 1920s. Originating in Altoona, Pennsylvania, the train will be arriving at its final destination in Cumberland, Maryland in just 31 minutes. While the diminutive train takes on and discharges passengers, mail and express, an intense conversation takes place between the engineer and a wide-eyed youngster on the platform. Outside the depot stands a young couple who are waiting to travel to a family reunion where they will celebrate the holidays in warm and loving company.
