Christmas Card: The GG-1 On a Christmas Run
May the peace and happiness of the Christmas season abide with you through all the coming year.
The GG-1 On a Christmas Run
The Pennsylvania Railroad's famous electric locomotive, the sleek GG-1, is portrayed kicking up fresh snow on an afternoon run to New York City. The railroad built 139 units between 1939 and 1943, some of which stayed in service as late as 1983. It was designed by Donald Roscoe Dohner and Raymond Loewy, two men who helped usher in an era of industrial design in which everyday items were not only expected to be functional, but also streamlined and pleasing to the eye. May its classic American beauty bring added cheer to your Christmas season!
