Inside Verse (suggested):
Erie FT's Snowy Journey at Susquehanna From the New Jersey shoreline, the 2,450-mile long Erie Railroad extended to Chicago with its mainline touching upon much of Pennsylvania. Although it had a few branches into the Keystone state, its double track mainline clipped across the state on its way to Youngstown, Akron and Chicago. On a wintry day in the 1950s, a set of 700 series FTs lead a symbol freight train through Susquehanna in the northeastern corner of Pennsylvania. Even though FT builder EMD proposed bright new colors for Erie's first two dozen road diesels in l944, Erie's conservative management thought the diesels should not contrast too much with the Mikado and Berkshire steam locomotives they were replacing which were adorned only with a little yellow. May this snowy scene from yesteryear bring back fond memories of Christmases past.
